So you all know about my new 7 string Suhr .
Great guitar and great sound …still learning and getting use to the 7th string but it coming along.
I installed a push pull switch to split the humbucker and would like to explain a bit about it.
We all know what is Humbucker Pickup right? two single coils one is a plus and one is – and that way it cancels and hum.
Great for playing distortion but it is also cancels tiny bit the high end and pushes the sound harder depends how “hot ” the humbucker is.
So I have two humbuckers on my guitar , what I did is having a puah pull switch for Series ,Parallel and split .
1.Series is basically how humbucker work one single coil goes to the next and then to the output.
again grat for distortion sounds.
2.Parallel both single coils work but independently , what it gives you more high end and not as heavy attack . very close to a single coil but dead quite.
3.Split only one coil is working ,what it gives you is the HUMMMM (unfortunately) but it feels and sounds like a single coil!
Great for clean and overdrive.
That way I’m having all worlds ! I will post a sample mp3 to all sounds so you can hear the difference
So if you have a guitar with humbucker and would like from time to time to get a single coil sounds Parallel and split is the way to go.
