Learning all kinds of scales, modes arpeggios and all other materials is very important no doubt .
But if you are going to practice the melodic minor rather than the minor pentatonic you better have a good reason for that.
Which means if you are considering your self as a blues guitar player you better practice the minor ,major pentatonic as well as the Mixolydian .These tools will serve you better when you would like to create some bluesy solos.
Now I’m not saying expanding the horizon is not important ,of course it is , you just need to balance your practice correctly.
I remember my self as a heavy metal guitar player 20 years ago learning the modes and crazy chords of course I’m glad that I learned everything but when I was really into the ” Heavy stuff “most of my practice was around these tools.
