Here are my thoughts and conclusions about both and maybe just maybe I’ll put an end to this fight and it will be easier for other musicians to decided which one to buy.
First both amps sound great!!!! ,I’m not going to talk about the features of the amps because everyone wrote them before also its up to you to decide if you want extra channel and all the extra features in the TSL this is Strictly sound :
Used Mesa boogie Cab 1×12 ,Suhr modern guitar and no effects.
Both amps have the same tubes JJ and no effects ! I put the EQs on 12 o’clock ,presence at 3 o’clock, Gain round 2 and volume at 9 o’clock
Keep in mind the EQ the same for the sake of the comparison ,both amps can sound better with adjusting the EQ better
Clean the DSL is brighter TSL is warmer BUT reducing the treble and the presence and you will have almost the same sound ..I prefer the TSL!
Crunch Channel both amps are exactly the same period! both sound awesome I really don’t get how everyone said TSL doesn’t sound thick and the DSL is way better !!!!!! they sound the same .
Lead channel on TSL and Lead 2 on the DSL : the TSL has more gain and headroom but again both sound amazing and its up to the musicians to decide if they want another channel with more gain or not.
I don’t know about early TSL amps, both of my amps are 2006 and maybe when they came out the TSL sounded different (Maybe I don’t know like I wrote wasn’t a Marshall fun until a few moths ago)
and maybe I fell on a good TSL but the amps that I have sound the same period.
I will keep the DSL because I got it cheap and it is always good to have a backup ,for the recording I’m using both just for the fun of it but it doesn’t really matters
Here is a link to my website I posted in my blog small clip first crunch channel and then Lead ..I’m not going to say which one is first so you can listen with your ears! if you can hear difference in the crunch channel let me know what do you think
Hopefully I helped musician to choose the right amp for them if you have questions feel free to write me
